Development of technology for grain drying with active aeration using ozone Source of funding Rural Support Service project Project website https://www.cfi.lu.lv/en/research/projects/european-agricultural-fund-for-rural… Project leader Ādolfs Rucins Duration 2018-2021 Budget 53 220 Project description The aim of the project is to optimize grain conditioning on farms by drying them with active ventilation. The process, compared to drying in grain dryers, is less expensive, but requires less capital investment and improves grain quality compared to the original. That's why, in small amounts, this technology - active blowing of grain is better than traditional drying. During the project implementation, active ventilation technology will be developed and tested by adding air to ozone. According to laboratory studies, the use of ozone for 25-30% allows to shorten the ventilation process (fan operating time), thus making active ventilation considerably faster and more profitable. In addition, the use of ozone prevents unwanted microflora and pests occurring in grains during storage. The task of the ISSP UL group in the project is to carry out the development of sensor modules (6 consists of 3 sensors (O3, RH, oT) and 6 more of 2 sensors (RH, oT) for 2 identical grain drying bunkers, one of which is mixed with ozone. The other is air-only comparison, data collection and visualization with wireless communication must be provided, installation must be done by drying, data must be collected, stored and interpreted.
